2012 - Starring St John of God Hospital

The end of 2012 is approaching and with it brings the inevitable ponder and reflection on a year gone by. If I were to quickly summarise 2012 in one phrase for us Choo's, it'd be...

St John of God Hospital Subiaco.

The hospital has played a starring role in our lives this year. Whilst not as glamorous as New York City on a TV sitcom, it provided the background for a year full of perseverance, pain, uncertainty and eventual joy.

There were countless painful hours spent at the hospital rehabbing my knee and seeing orthopaedic surgeons; dull hours spent waiting to see obstetricians and midwives; hours spent attentively listening in preparation for impending parenthood; hours witnessing the miracle of childbirth and sleepless nights at the neonatal unit watching a premature Kobe in his first days of life.

I don't think I can speak highly enough of the staff at SJOG and of the care and the advice they provided. We can't thank them enough!

2 months old

You are such a joy to your Mummy and Daddy. You are growing quickly and now weigh 4.92Kg. You're soft and squishy and we love your cuddles and smiles although you're not too generous with them yet. You are a happy, sociable baby that loves going out.

You love:

  • movement - being in the car, the pram or being rocked in our arms
  • music - in particular The Killers
  • bath time
  • milk
  • venetian blinds

Todays your birthday.

We would have celebrated with cake and tomorrow morning you and I would have had a slice for breakfast. Perhaps I should keep up the tradition :)

I miss you. Happy Birthday! Lots of love  xxox

Proud Parent Moment

Only 24 days old and baby Kobe rolled over at tummy time!!!

For you

Kobe

Today was the day you were meant to be born. A day I circled in all our calendars and waited for in eagerness and counted the number of sleeps until I could hold you in my arms. Instead I've had 3 and half extra weeks of cuddles.

You're a smart little boy that brings much joy to your Daddy and I. I've never seen your Daddy quite so in love before. He'll spend all his time holding you in his arms, rocking you, kissing you and chuckling at all the little things you do. We're totally amazed by you and time passes so quickly when we're watching you.

About you:
You make many cute facial expressions and little noises that sounds like ducks, kittens and puppies.
You love to clench your fists but leave your pinky out.
You hold onto the little flannel towels we place on you.
You're a strong lil man.
You sleep and eat well and rarely cry unless you're wet or hungry.
You love milk and can't seem to get enough.
You're a cheeky chop - you pretend to sleep and when your Daddy and I come check on you, you open your eyes and peek and quickly close them again and smile

Your Daddy wants you to stay this small always but I can't wait to see more of you.

Love always
Mummy
